Bedford Scholarship

What is it?

The Bedford Scholarship is awarded annually by the West Yorkshire Society of Architects to students who wish to undertake research abroad related to their architecture studies or extend their architectural knowledge outside of university studies.

The Scholarship is open to all architectural students studying at the University of Huddersfield, Leeds Beckett University, University of Leeds, University of Sheffield, and Sheffield Hallam University.

Applications should be e-mailed to the Bedford Judges by 23 March 2023. The judges will identify the most promising proposals. The short-listed candidates will be notified by 6 April and asked to make a full presentation at an interview that will be held in Leeds on the afternoon of 18 May 2023. The winner(s) will be notified by the end of May.

75% of the prize money will be paid before the study visit that should be undertaken during the summer break. The final presentation to WYSA members and students will be on the evening of 19 October (TBC) when final award of 25% will be made. A hard and digital copy of the presentation should be provided.
